SU Confucius Institute

The Confucius Institute is located in in Luang Prabang, a world heritage city. It was co-established between Souphanouvong University and Kunming University of science and Technology with an approval from the Confucius Institute’s Headquarter of the Republic of China in December 2017.  The institute was officially launched on 13th July 2018.

The Confucius Institute in Souphanouvong University is responsible projects from China, for instance, One Belt One Road, Lao-Chinese Economic Corridor, and community development; promoting Lao-Chinese relationship and educational exchanges; providing conditions for Chinese language learning and vocational trainings. In addition, the Confucius Institute is also responsible for promoting Chinese language and culture with supports from Kunming University of Science and Technology in developing curriculum for “Chinese Language for Specific Purposes”, Chinese + Vocation”, a platform for education, culture, and technology exchanges. Furthermore, the institute supports Yunnan province to become Collaborative center in Asia and ASEAN and promote and develop Lao-Chinese relations.

The Confucius Institute aims at becoming a focal point in promoting Chinese Language and culture, producing Chinese language specialists, a Chinese language testing and training center and Chinese language for specific purposes in northern provinces of Lao PDR, Lao-Chinese research and technology sharing center, and a platform for promoting industries  between Yunnan province and Lao northern provinces.
